Always pleased Beau

Comic book writers are angry.

Comic book artists are happy.

This hit me the other day when I was reading different message board posts, Tweets, Facebook postings as well as a few interviews with as well as by comic book creators. It got me believing about times before the internet. When I backtracked a bit I realized that it was true back in the day as well.

IMPORTANT: Please note that I’m not stating all comic book writers are upset as well as that all comic book artists are happy. What I’m saying, in my own opinion, is that if you pay interest as well as truly cross recommendation the above develops of communication, you’ll discover that a great deal of the writers do seem to be in a quite poor mood where the artists seem to walk on a quite sunny path.

Writers (yeah, I know, that includes me) seem to grumble a great deal about whatever from comic books to the weather. They seem to always be in a defensive mode when people talk about their work as well as Lord understands they worry over any type of review. On their personal sites they truly vent, as well as that is their right, about all who comment on their work as well as don’t sing their praises. The site message boards as well as forums are utilized to rally their faithful visitors to light the torches as well as seek out those monsters that have upset the writer with words that don’t drip with compliment.

Beau Talks Over script modifications With His Editor

I believe that this defensive stance comes from a writer’s insecurity of working alone in a space for hours as well as only working with an editor from time to time. The communication with an editor can be stressful in the truth they understand there is always one more writer excited to take their task as well as that the editor is likewise the man who sends you your paycheck. A writer is always asking themselves the questions, “Will anybody such as this story? “ “Will they get what I’m trying to say?” “Will the artist make me look great or destroy this panel?” “Will I ever work again?”

Artists on the other hand don’t seem as insecure or have as much time to concern about the things writers do, most likely since they don’t have the time. The physicality of drawing consumes a great deal of that concern time. They typically flip on some music or TV, hit the boards as well as don’t look up up until it’s time to eat. The proof for an artist is typically in the pudding as well as unless it’s been under or overcooked, they typically don’t get that much sorrow from the editor. Sure, a few little modifications right here as well as there, however nothing their entire ego or profession rests upon.

I understand as a writer, I truly try to believe about what I post, before I publish it. There have been times when I’ve published up stuff that makes me seem like “The Angriest guy In Comics”. (Does this column count?) I try to believe things out these days before I toss them out to the Velcro internet. Twitter is a location where I can see people groaning a second after they hit the send key. It’s one thing to believe the stuff alone in your office/studio/room, however it looks a great deal different when it hits the eyes of all those people taking a look at their computer screens. It’s like whispering with an IMAX system.

When you have a bit time, as well as you’re inspecting out comic book stuff, see if your count comes up like mine. Do comic book writers seem a bit angry? Are comic book artists whistling as well as kicking up their heels with joy? You decide.

As far as I go, my mood is so great it doesn’t have an expiration date on it.

Your happy-go-ugly amigo,

Beau Smith
